  • The point of departure for the show Zachem. Interwencja [Zachem. Intervention] was the closing down of the Zachem Chemical Processing Plant in Bydgoszcz. After World War II, the plant was one of the main centres of chemical processing in Poland, ensuring employment for whole generations of families. These workers constituted not only a group of employees, but also a complex community. A complete infrastructure was provided around the plant, featuring nurseries, canteens, healthcare institutions and community centres. The show was created using documentary theatre methods, based on archive materials and interviews with the former workers. Their individual experience inspired a reflection on the connections between people and their work, and between conditioning mechanisms and the transformation of the political system in Poland.
