  • The main theme of MaMa Perform is motherhood, social and cultural representations connected with it, and, above all, the personal experiences of the participating women – mothers. Maria Stokłosa used all of these to build a series of ambiguous images in which amusing, sacred and vulgar elements, as well as everyday banalities, play equal roles. We see real women, their worries, questions and dreams about how it could be.

  • MARIA STOKŁOSA (born 1981) graduated in choreography from the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) of Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam and from the contemporary dance department of London Contemporary Dance School at The Place. She says: “Dance can be a pleasure, rather than aiming at excellence. [...] For me dance is a purely physical pleasure, but also a space for processing emotions and difficult life experiences. When the body relaxes, people can do extraordinary things. Many fears and other limitations disappear, you dance effortlessly, become more creative, you can sing in a full voice, even if you don’t know how.”
