  • Fairytales of Moss and Lichen is the first professional encounter between Leszek Bzdyl and Jan Kochanowski, who share a fascination in the theatre of movement, the absurdity of life and in Italo Calvino’s fairytales. In fact, Bzdyl and Kochanowski took the Italian writer’s works as the point of departure for their show: for playing with associations, holding battles of words and bodies, and for using diverse theatrical conventions. Events follow one another in a rapid sequence, and the plot is full of dramatic twists. Fairytales helps us understand ourselves and find ourselves in a world that is not always describable or explicable. It is not limited to the world of our childhood. According to Bzdyl and Kochanowski, fairytales are also relevant to our adult lives, albeit on a different intellectual, emotional and existential level.
