The Poznań municipal gasworks on Grobla was designed by the British architect John Moore.

This year, Daman Albarn – the singer, lyricist, producer, composer and Grammy winner – will play for his throngs of fans at the Old Gasworks. As a member of Blur, along with Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree, he recorded seven albums. In 2000, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett formed Gorillaz. Poznań's Rebeka – the big discovery in alternative music in recent years – will play as the support act.

The Old Gasworks is proving to be yet another place on the map of Poznań that charms artists with its decaying spaces. At the 2010 Malta Festival, it hosted the premiere of Teatr Wielki's (The Great Theatre's) La Bohème, a mega-production with crowds of people, scaffoldings and splendour.
