The Director of Malta Festival Poznań, Michał Merczyński, has been ranked second among the twenty most influential persons and managers of Polish culture, according to the weekly magazine Polityka. The first position was awarded to Bogdan Zdrojewski, Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

Polityka explained Michał Merczyński’s high position in the following way: “As a manager of culture, Michał Merczyński (51) could fill several CVs. In 2005, he became the head of the Polish Audiovisual Publishing House, transformed in 2009 into the National Audiovisual Institute. His achievements include the founding of Filmoteka Szkolna, Muzykoteka and the online cultural magazine Dwutygodnik.com, as well as numerous publications, festivals and concerts. … For over two decades, Merczyński has also been directing the huge (formerly theatre and recently interdisciplinary) Malta Festival”.
