On Monday, June 17, during a meeting in the Presidential Palace on the occasion of 20th anniversary of passing the Act on radio and television broadcasting, President Bronisław Komorowski conferred Orders of the Rebirth of Poland and Crosses of Merit on persons distinguished in their activity for the development of free media in Poland. We are very pleased to inform that Michał Merczyński, director of Malta Festival Poznań, received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland.

As President said, the decorations expressed gratitude and underlined the services for the development of Polish, free and democratic media. “But freedom of media, freedom of speech are an undoubtedly difficult and demanding gift, raising ever more far-reaching expectations,” he added.

Bronisław Komorowski pointed out that in addition to their services, the decorated persons had in common their care about Polish media and media order. “You are the group which, I am convinced, can also be effective in acting for the development of an increasingly better media order in Poland, through statutory regulation,” he stated.
