The April meeting in Arkadia will be devoted to religion, and the syncretic religions exactly that rely on combining the elements in different cultures and are one of the phenomena of Latin America. What is Umbanda, Candomblé or santeria? What is their place among the religions of South American countries? What is the relationship between religion and ethnicity, faith and identity, everyday life and historical experience (colonialism and dictatorships of the twentieth century) in Latin America?

The discussion will be attended by Alexander Posern-Zielinski, a professor in the Department of the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Chairman of the Ethnological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences and by Dorota Semenowicz - the programme department of Malta Festival Poznań.
