Duel is built upon the confrontation between two female performers who challenge each other and the audience by playing with stereotypical images of militant woman. They dare and are daring in their search for nuances. Their dispute seems to be a matter of life and death. Ultimately, it turns into a duel, which becomes a game and a dance.
AGATA MASZKIEWICZ is a dancer, choreographer and performer. In 2009, she graduated from the Institute of Dance Arts at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversitaet in Linz, Austria. She continued her education in Montpellier at the Centre Choreoghraphique National, in the ex.er.ce programme, under Xavier Le Roy. She is interested in dance in a wider sense, understood as movement (not necessarily of human bodies) organised to a greater or lesser extent. Her point of reference is the social reality which surrounds her and which she tries to transform on stage: sometimes poetically and sometimes comically. This is the reason why Austrian critic Helmut Ploebst has dubbed her a “socio-critical choreographer”. Agata Maszkiewicz works mainly in Austria and France, but also in Poznań, where she collaborates with the Art Stations Foundation in the Stary Brower New Dance programme.
