The show Lepiej tam nie idź [You Better Not Go There], loosely inspired by H. P. Lovecraft’s short story The Call of Cthulhu, is in the convention of an RPG (role-playing game). It features children from the Children’s Home in Szamocin and young actors and theatre makers from the Stacja Szamocin Theatre, managed by local activist and artist Luba Zarembińska. They have taken on the roles of various monsters: insane, strange or beautiful, and at times, terrifying. The monsters are engaged in a battle of good vs evil. The young actors were also involved in creating the stage set, lights and the audio visual materials for the show. The result is a performance that is, on one hand, oneiric and reminiscent of a fairytale, whilst on the other, it strongly accentuates the problem of poverty and injustice in the world.
The project was created under Wielkopolska: Rewolucje, a project of the Regional Government of Wielkopolska, curated by Agata Siwiak.
