  • The riots which took place recently in São Paulo have revealed that people are against the organisation of large sporting events which consume huge amounts of taxpayers’ money. We are interested in how such events, and the associated media focus, transform a city and the life of its residents, both before, during and after they are held. Some time ago, the subject made the headlines in Poznań for a while. Today, nobody talks about it anymore, but many companies and institutions are still enjoying or suffering (?) the effects. Who gains and who loses out on the massive sporting events? Where are the residents in all this? Who has the right to the city?
