Rain is Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker’s third choreography to the music of Steve Reich. It was created in 2001, and in 2011 was included in the repertoire of the Opéra National de Paris. This was the first time that De Keersmaeker’s choreography had been interpreted by dancers who were not from her company. Two filmmakers, Olivia Rochette and Gerard-Jan Claes, followed the work process at the Opera: from the auditions and rehearsals, to the opening performance. The documentary shows not only the performance, but also how De Keersmaeker worked with classically trained ballet dancers.
